To help class members have a greater desire to “choose liberty and eternal life” through Jesus Christ, “the great Mediator of all men”
Book of Mormon Central is in the process of migrating to our new Scripture Central website.
We ask for your patience during this transition. Over the coming weeks, all pages of bookofmormoncentral.org will be redirected to their corresponding page on scripturecentral.org, resulting in minimal disruption.
To help class members have a greater desire to “choose liberty and eternal life” through Jesus Christ, “the great Mediator of all men”
To inspire class members to follow Nephi’s example of faith and willing obedience.
To help class members understand Nephi’s vision of the future and how the warnings and promises in it apply to us today.
Lehi's and Nephi's dream-vision of the tree of life serves as a lesson and encouragement about Christ's Atonement. In fact, the vision can be seen as the foundation of the Book of Mormon being centered on Christ.
The first chapters of 1 Nephi proclaim Lehi's calling as a prophet, his family's varied responses to his message that they must leave Jerusalem, and the sons' assignments to return to Jerusalem. These chapters lay a foundation of trust in the Lord and obedience to his commands that continues throughout the Book of Mormon.
This lesson establishes a foundation for study of the Book of Mormon. The book means so much to members of the LDS Church because it contains truths of Jesus Christ and his ministry that complement the teachings of the Bible.
Mormon carried out the daunting task of abridging the Nephite records in an effective and miraculous manner.
