As a church studying the New Testament with the Come, Follow Me resource, we have begun to reach the chapters that contain parables taught by Jesus Christ during his mortal ministry.

In an effort to deepen your study of the parables, Scripture Central has released a new ScripturePlus reading plan, “The Parables of Jesus: Revealing the Plan of Salvation.”

The plan is adapted from a book written by John W. and Jeannie S. Welch and explores the parables of Jesus through the lens of Heavenly Father’s plan of salvation. Brother and Sister Welch have found that an exploration of the parables’ context and source texts reveals connections to many aspects of the plan of salvation. Understanding the parables of Jesus Christ through this lens can help us find additional meaning.

In addition to their insights and study, the book and reading plan contain paintings, drawings and sketches by Jorge Cocco Santangelo depicting the parables. These paintings are meant to help readers explore the meaning of the parables and connect to them more richly.

To access this reading plan, download the free ScripturePlus app from scriptureplus.org. You can find The Parables of Jesus reading plan in the app by tapping the "Reading Plans" button on the home page.

We hope you will enjoy and benefit from this new reading plan, and that your study of the Savior’s life will continue to be fruitful this year.
