Five New Daily Book of Mormon Reading Plans Now Available from Scripture Central for Come, Follow Me

As we enter 2024 and begin studying the Book of Mormon in the Come, Follow Me curriculum of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, there are a wealth of study resources available to you that can enhance and deepen your study of The Book of Mormon.

Scripture Central has developed a total of five new reading plans that aim to further your study of and knowledge about the Book of Mormon. To access these plans in the ScripturePlus app, tap the three bars in the top left corner, then tap "Plans" in the menu that appears. Finally, tap "Explore Plans" at the top of the window and tap each plan to preview it. If you'd like to participate in a plan, tap the "Start Plan" button in the preview window.

Comprehensive Reading Plan for the Book of Mormon for 2024

Would you like the best materials on the Book of Mormon we have to offer in a manageable timeframe? This plan is for you.

We’ve taken resources like video, KnoWhys, Evidences, commentary, charts, and more and selected our favorites to put into this one, comprehensive reading plan for the Book of Mormon for 2024. In just 15 minutes a day, you'll keep up with the Come, Follow Me readings assigned by the church while also benefiting from additional information and research from scholars of the Book of Mormon. Our goal is to enhance your study of the Book of Mormon and allow you to dive deep and gain new insights about the keystone of our religion.

Verse of the Day Reading Plan

Do you struggle with a busy schedule, or do you perhaps just want a little moment of inspiration each day in addition to your regular scripture study? Join our Verse of the Day reading plan for the Book of Mormon in 2024.

We've selected individual verses and short passages in the Book of Mormon for you to read and ponder on. They will mostly align with the schedule of the church's Come, Follow Me program, though you may stray from that schedule a little, sometimes getting a few more highlights from one week's reading and a few fewer from the next.

Each verse or passage will also be accompanied by a quote from a general conference talk or another source meant to enhance your understanding of the verse or help you liken it to yourself. Participation in the reading plan should take just a few moments each day, usually less than a minute.

We hope you will benefit from this small, daily taste of the scriptures and the teachings of general authorities this year.

Book of Mormon Minute with Brant Gardner

Brant A. Gardner is a researcher with a master of science in anthropology and the author of Second Witness: Analytical and Contextual Commentary on the Book of Mormon, as well as several other books about the Book of Mormon and its translation.

Brother Gardner has graciously provided us with a simplified commentary on the Book of Mormon that we're calling Book of Mormon Minute. We've divided his commentary into daily readings to accompany your study of the Book of Mormon this year.

Please note that this plan will allow you to finish the Book of Mormon in a year, but does not precisely follow the reading schedule of the church's Come, Follow Me program.

Book of Mormon Evidences

A frequent criticism of the Book of Mormon is the claim that there is no evidence for its authenticity. Some critics are inclined to point out, for instance, that we know where Jerusalem is, but no one has ever found the ancient Nephite city of Zarahemla.

Our Evidences reading plan explores aspects of the Book of Mormon that point toward its authenticity and ancient origin. Some articles shine a light on things that were previously thought of to be impossible, like the presence of horses in the Americas during Book of Mormon times. Others take a look at textual evidences in the Book of Mormon that suggest it has a Hebrew linguistic origin. Still others explore places like Nihm and Wadi Tayyib al-Ism in the Middle East that share many characteristics of locations spoken of in Lehi's journey. As you follow the readings from the church's Come, Follow Me program this year, your scripture study will be supplemented by this scholarship. It should be noted that while none of these things individually are proof of the Book of Mormon's truthfulness, they disagree with critics' assessment that the Book of Mormon is a foolish fantasy or fiction. Together they make a strong case that the Book of Mormon is of ancient origin.

Not every passage of the Book of Mormon has an associated Evidence at this time. In these cases we have chosen to supplement with KnoWhy articles and/or additional resources in this reading plan.

We hope this plan will strengthen your belief in the Book of Mormon's truthfulness, allowing you to continue to gain strength from the principles it teaches.

Book of Mormon KnoWhys

Do you ever wish you had someone next to you who could explain the scriptures? Perhaps you wish you were a scholar, someone who knew about all the things professors and researchers were discussing when it comes to the Book of Mormon.

Our KnoWhys reading plan is designed to enhance your study of the Book of Mormon this year with short articles that summarize recent discussion and research around the Book of Mormon. We publish a new one every week at bookofmormoncentral.org, we've published over 700 so far, and we've gathered at least one for each day of the church's Come, Follow Me schedule this year. That means at least one KnoWhy for every segment of the Book of Mormon you'll read. For instance, as you read Zenos’ allegory of the olive tree, you'll be able to read a few KnoWhys to familiarize yourself with some of the practices of caring for olive trees in ancient times. As you read sermons of Nephite prophets, you might find them accompanied by KnoWhys talking about the timing of those sermons in relation to Jewish feasts and festivals.

Not every passage of the Book of Mormon has an associated KnoWhy at this time. In these cases we have chosen to supplement with Evidence articles and/or additional resources in this reading plan.

As you explore the scriptures with these articles, we hope you will gain spiritual insights and a deeper appreciation for the Book of Mormon and what it has to offer you.
